John comes to Campbell Killin Brittan and Ray with diverse legal background of over 20 years of in-house corporate experience with large and mid-sized companies. He has represented companies from a broad spectrum of industries, including serving as Vice President of the legal department at Coors Brewing Company and Vice President, General Counseland Corporate Secretary at Orange Glo International (household cleaning products) and Heska Corporation (veterinary instruments and pharmaceuticals). John was an integral part of the leadership team at each company.

John also serves as an outside General Counsel for many companies. He represents his clients for legal needs from inception through sale, merger, or acquisition. John’s experience includes assisting with legal issues related to a) manufacturing operations from purchasing raw materials to manufacturing product in-house and contract manufacturing, product liability issues, risk management, warehouse, distribution, fulfillment, transportation, and crisis management; b) sales and marketing including infomercial sales, talent agreements, distribution and reseller agreements (domestic and international), internet sales, and internet marketing; c) contract drafting and negotiating, including product supply agreements, distribution agreements, reseller agreements, purchase agreements, service company terms and conditions; d) representing employers and employees in employment matters, drafting and negotiating employment contracts, and conducting employment investigations; and e) corporate governance. John also conducts Legal Audits for clients to determine the company’s strengths and weaknesses in areas of legal compliance.

Prior to his corporate practice, John was a prosecutor in the District Attorneys’ Office and a trial attorney representing municipalities in defense of their police officers and also defending companies through their insurance policies. John has a wonderful wife, three grown children who he is very proud of, and a dog. He loves skiing, biking, and camping at 5 star resorts. John is also active in his church and Christian ministries.
